Default For those that loved Prophecies:

Just to be blunt, I'm going to say right now that I'm not a big fan of the tutorial islands. One thing I loved about Prophecies was how there was pre-searing. It gave you this peaceful scenary and nice, simple quests to start out with.

In another post there was a guy complaining about how there's too many "n00bs" playing Nightfall and haven't gotten enough training. I guess part of the problem is that level 20's come to these islands and help out. Now, I'm not saying it's all bad because it isn't. It's actually nice to see people helping out, but this also creates a problem when the person doesn't really need to learn how to play. Then once they get to the mainland they get yelled at for being a "n00b."

Another thing I liked about pre-searing was how you could see how the searing affected it once you crossed over. You got to see a before and after and view the ruins.

It may be a personal opinion, but I thought about it just a few minutes ago and was wondering if anyone else felt the same. I think it's more creative when a storyline is going one way and then a catastrophe happens and the storyline shifts. Factions and Nightfall have been kind of predictable which is maybe why some people are already getting bored.

In Factions, the whole storyline of the chapter was revealed after the second mission. Okay, we have to destroy Shiro, end of story. Then in Nightfall, okay, Varesh is evil. Better get rid of her too. Prophecies was exciting because here you are in a peaceful land killing scales and hunting bears, occassionally stopping the charr, but then the searing happens and the whole theme changes. You're an Ascalonian, but now you'r leaving your home. Then you get to Kryta and there's undead all over so you try to get rid of it. Then you take off to the Crystal Desert in search of a way to become stronger to destroy the undead threat. The storyline just keep on shifting and keeps you guessing. From the desert you're off to the Southern Shiverpeaks and then the Ring of Fire. Point being, ANET shouldn't use islands that coincide with the time of the mainland. It ruins the whole mystery of the game.

Yeah, that is even worse, when you know there is an arena in PostSearing for level 1-10, you end up with level 12-13 from PreSearing.

I always left presear at level 1 or 2.

I have mixed feelings about it. I like the post/pre sear thing and the whole peaceful attitude around it, but you cant return to it and help out the newbies when they really need the help unless you keep a character in there or create a new one. I have a lot of character slots so I could do that last part but I'm sure most people cant.

All im gonna say is that personally, i LOVED Prophesies. A lot of that had to do with pre-searing. It was a nice tutorial, but unless you were just REALLY lazy, it didnt really get old doing it a second time. Or at least not any more old than any other part of the game. And it wasnt boring the first time. I doubt many people, even first timers, actually go through the factions and nightfall tutorials. theyre pointless, theyre boring, and theyre downright annoying. so yeah i DEFINATELY liked the way they did prophesies tutorial more than either of the other two.

prophecies still is, and probably will always be the most well thought out, planned and organized campaign.

Especially that part about being able to run from Beacon's Perch to Droknar's forge.

Ever seen a level 2 character in the fire islands?

I personally think NF is more organized overall. Over time they learned from their mistakes and improved on them, which isn't the case for prophecies.
